Islesburgh House is Shetlands main Youth
Hostel, situated in central Lerwick and offering quality accommodation to the
budget traveller and local groups.

Open April to September, the Youth Hostel is
equipped for every hosteller’s need, and is fully accessible to disabled users.
The hostel has limited availability from October to March for groups of 10 or
more. The
comfortable accommodation is provided in dormitories, group and family rooms.

Lerwick Youth Hostel
Islesburgh
House was built for Andrew Smith, owner of one of the largest companies
to profit from the herring boom. After being in use for many years as a
youth hostel and meeting place the building has been beautifully
restored and refurbished.
Between April and September it operates as
Lerwick Youth Hostel offering superb quality visitor accommodation at
budget price. Two floors are fully accessible for disabled users and the
hostel offers two or four person bedroom accommodation, or group
dormitories.
The fully equipped hostel has 64 bed spaces and is central
to all amenities. The hostel has one of the few 5-star gradings given
by the Scottish Tourist Board.
Who
can use the hostel:
- Individuals,
families and groups.
- Genuine
hostellers/holidaymakers.
- Children over the age of 5 and
adults of all ages.
How to book:

In person... Call along either Islesburgh Community Centre 9.00am - 9.00pm or
Islesburgh Youth Hostel. This is not recommended during the peak season
as you may well find the hostel full.

provisionally until confirmed by writing with minimum payment of one
night's stay made prior to visit, wherever possible.
